Safety Tip: Don’t feel like you have to stick a cotton swab into a baby’s ear to clear wax accumulation from her ear canals. Wax is made in the ear canals to prevent them from drying out and to discourage foreign material from entering into the opening. Tiny hairs present in the ear canal move excess wax to the outer ear as a self-cleaning mechanism. Wax can then be wiped off with a damp washcloth.
