Daily SPF 30+ baby lotion protects baby and family from UV rays.

The supermarket has a slew of sunblocks available, but I’m always excited to try something different. When I was given the opportunity to use brand-new Baby Silk Daily UV Shield by MD Moms, I was thrilled. I believed the best time to test the sunscreen—developed specifically for children and babies—would be at my son’s fifth birthday party, where he and his friends spent hours in the 80º So Cal sun.
I applied Baby Silk to my face in the morning after my shower. The SPF 30+ moisturizing lotion went on a little thick, which was to be expected for sun protection. I allowed about five minutes before applying my pressed powder and had no issues at all. The formula blended into my skin and left no sticky, greasy or oily residue.
At the park, I applied the sunscreen to the birthday boy and his 22-month-old brother before the guests arrived, around noon. The fragrance-free formula quickly blended in to their delicate skin. I offered sunscreen to my hubby, but he was busy at the grill and didn’t put any on.
Then…the kids played. Over the course of the day, I had totally forgotten to reapply the lotion (the packaging encourages users to reapply at frequent intervals). The boys got all sweaty jumping around in the Spiderman bounce house, drenched playing squirt gun wars, baked in the line to clobber the piñata as well as out in the open eating their corn dogs and cake. The sunscreen had really been put to the test.
We packed up our picnic and went home in the evening, around 5:30 p.m. Besides the tired looks on the kids’ faces, there were no telltale signs that they had been in the sun. When it came to UV protection, Baby Silk got an A+ in safeguarding my kids and me. My husband, on the other hand, had skipped using the product. His face, and especially the back of his neck, got scorched.
Congrats to Baby Silk for a job well done. And thanks to the pediatrician-moms who developed it.
